I have a 99 X1 with a race ecm. I had relatively no stumbling issues before the engine was rebuilt. Now, it has a pretty bad hesitation off idle until you give it a good twist. I'm thinking this could be a fuel map issue and was wondering if the Race ECM is tunable with ECMspy? I'm not sure if 10 over pistons would really affect the fuel demands of the bike that much though.

Yes, you can tune the race ecm with ECMspy.

Snafu, If you just freshened up or repaired why would the map be an issue?
If you altered it ( cams, head work, more inches) then that makes sense

It ran fine other than the rod knock before tear down (which is why it was rebuilt). After reassembly I have this issue. An oversize crankpin and pistons were installed and my baffle and packing was reinstalled in my muffler, that is all. It should run better than ever (which it does above the trouble area). Brand new O2 sensor, TPS, and all values were reset by the laptop at the dealership. It's really confusing.

All values reset by dealership----like what? And dealers seem to have a hard time doing correct TPS reset.
What is AFV now?

All I know is my mechanic is one of the best in the Buell service industry and he rebuilts at least 20 motors a year in addition to working on almost nothing but Buells. He has gone back and checked his work on everthing he has done and he is confused why its acting this way. I ordered a new throttle body yesterday to see if the butterfly is fluttering at that rpm. I'll let you know the results next week when I recieve the part. In the meantime, if anyone has other suggestions please help me out.

The new throttle body did not work. Does anyone have a perfected map for my 99 X1 with a Vance & Hines slip on and a K&N short ram style intake I can download to burn to my ECM with ECMspy?

Let me see if mine are saved on the laptop. It may be a couple of days 'cause I've got meetings tonight and tomorrow and the laptop is at home.

Thanks kyrocket. Can you also send the eeprom as well? If anyone else has ideas or maps/eeproms please help. I am open to anything at this point.

O.K. I can find the fuel maps but don't know how to capture a screen shot to upload them. They're saved in ECM spy and not as a computer program. Worst case scenario I can take a pic of them and text them to you and you can manually enter them. I've got front and rear fuel and timing.

Does anyone out there have the file to just simply download it to my bike? Entering then manually will take forever and I'm sure I will mess up somewhere.

Why can't you just save the EEPROM and maps as a file to your computer and email them?

The fuel maps are included in the EEPROM.
I will include my stock(unaltered) Race EEPROM which you can compare to yours.
It is a notepad document, you can't load it direct to EcmSpy.
See if you compare these two by opening EcmSpy,Fetch your EEPROM,then compare yours to my notepad document EEPROM.
If nothing else it will give you some experience with EcmSpy.
laoding EEPROM with EcmSpy is not for beginners.

Ok here is the deal. I tried Tunning my race ECM dude to the problems I am having listed above. Now it will only fire up and shut off. I am not a computer wiz or an expert tunner. Does someone have an easier method of putting the new maps and EEPROM in my bike or can I ship someone my ECM for them to tune for me? I will pay you.

This was my second time messing with ECM spy and the second time I messed the ECM up.

My mechanic put his stock ECM in that he uses or testing and that is in it right now but I can't keep it. I need to get my race ECM working again.

why dont you just copy and paste the individual fuel/ timing maps in stead of the eeprom, when i went to redo my ecm i could not load the eeprom only the maps. i hope that you saved your original ecm maps!!!!!!!!!!!

sponsors.... and that helps us in this situation by.
Guess I did leave you to sort out which one of these sponsors could help you tune your bike. Sorry for not explaining myself better. I have PTSD and my ride to the Psych was honking and I had to run.
In my opinion the best thing to do is pay the experts to sort it for you.
These sponsors are there in the hope that we will support them .
The only one I have had anything to do with is American Sport Bike and if the others are anything like them, you could not be in better hands.
American Sport Bike will recommend someone if they can't do it themselves.
Good luck.

Injectors were plugged in backwards haha. Now I need to get my ECM back to life. Guess I will keep toying with ECMspy. If I can't get it then I guess I will have to send it to someone who has experience with it.

Haha tell me about it. Don't want to say anymore since I work at the dealership. Guess everyone makes mistakes and we will just leave it at that.

LOL i just saw this thread today. The throttle butterfly is "manually actuated by the throttle cable" It doesn't flutter unless you are fluttering your wrist on the throttle. I am pretty damn sure I remember the little white stick on labels on the fuel injection power wires that say front and back! No matter how faded they were now. I could still see them.

to save your eeprom just go the eeprom tab
click fetch eeprom
click file save epprom.

Now if you have someone else eeprom make sure to only upload the fuel maps unless you have the same ECM OR IT WILL BRICK IT.

To upload maps only
connect ecmspy to your bike fetch eeprom

open second ecmspy app
load other/borrowed eeprom
go to maps tab
click tps/rpm button on spreedsheet
it should highlight the table
now right click and copy.

Now go to your live ecmspy for bike
go to maps tab
click tps/rpm button on spreedsheet
table highlighted
now press keyboard ctrl with v
it should paste the new table

Now burn maps to ecm
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A MASTER EEPROM BEFORE MESSING WITH ECM
MAKE SURE TO DO THIS FOR FRONT AND REAR MAPS

Ok this is way over my head but thank you very much for the detailed instructions. I guess I am just too simple minded to get it haha.

Is anyone interested in fixing my raceECM for a little green if I mail it to them?
