Got a 27 tooth front pulley for next to nothing. I think to keep the stock ratio is 21 front and 51 rear... What will work well with a 27 front?? I'm talking about a chain conversion fyi | ||

if i am understanding your question, you want the same ratio as 21:51? with a 27 front, you would want a 65 rear 21/51=.41176 27/65=.41538 (slightly lower) 27/64=.32813 (a bit higher) | ||

My understanding was if you are switching from belt to a chain to keep the same gear ratio as belt you need a 21 front and 51 rear.( chain sprockets. Not belt) What I am trying to accomplish is keep my gear ratio as close to stock with this fancy new 27 tooth front sprocket. | ||

If you could post how many tooth you had front & rear with your belt drive i could tell you what the closest combination with chain drive would be. but not knowing what you had with a belt i could not say. i think my M2 has 27 front & 61 rear my ratio = 2.25 your ratio = 2.42 thats just the secondary ratio, you have to also calculate the primary ratio to find out your final drive ratio. your gearing is a bit too low i think. | ||

Some times you just have to make what you want. I wanted a chain on my Blast, but wanted to stay close to the stock ratio, but didn't want a pizza pan sized rear sprocket. Took a 15 tooth 520 from a dirt bike and had it welded to the center of a 22 tooth sportster front sprocket. Still works great 5 years later. |
