What Do You X1 Riders Use For Mufflers??

Does it have clearance for an easy transmission oil change?

Are the D&D mufflers any good?

SSR Vance and Hines. Sounds great, seems to be holding up good. You have to loosen it up to drain transmission.

It's astounding the number of Utah riders popping up on here lately!

My V&H had the best clearance aside from the stock pipe, though my bike's not specifically an X1 fit is the same. Supertrapp doesn't have great clearance for that but is a great pipe anyway.

Preybird1 runs a force system on his hot rodded X1. All the reviews on the D&D pipe said it was a nice stout pipe with good power output, though it is a bit loud.

Daytona boss here.
Cons:
No longer sold.
Mounting hardware was a pathetic joke.
LOUD.

Pros:
Great powerband with continuous torque curve.
Shiny stainless finish. (until you ride the bike)
Clearance for tranny drain.

I brazed my mounting clamps to the muffler so now it doesn't rattle loose anymore.

V&H SS2R. I just undo the rear bracket and swing it down to access the drain plug. Easy.

M-2: Stock OEM Suppressor

S-3: Buell Race Kit Pipe

Both run very well with good powerband.

Stock OEM Suppressor is best in town.

Buell Race Pipe is best on open road.

really loud and crazy performance with a D&D and 1250cc, don't know about clearance with the drain plug but 2 nut and bolts and a clamp are not so much of a deal

That Magnaflow looks like a good idea, but I think my pipes are 2.5"

looks really creative. What did you use for the elbow and the mount bracket from the header to the muffler ?

Not an X1, but I run a race header with a 4" Supertrapp external disk. It looks something like this:

My elbow was a left over from my WileyCo. Exhaust. I would assume there are some others out there that would work from things like an old D&D or other aftermarket system where the muffler has fallen apart.

I bought the X1 with a V&H already on it, but thought it too loud, so I picked up a stock can. I may repack the V&H & give it another try...
