Mine sits only about 1/16" from the steering tube. Anyone else have that issue? It is a bit less rigid that the old ones. Instead of feeling some monkey motion only when very hard on the brakes, that funky feeling happens even in moderate braking. My hands don't go numb anymore, and that's nice. | ||

Just checked mine and its somewhere in that range. Not sure if its an issue. And what do you mean by monkey motion? Haven't watched a monkey recently... | ||

It's hard to describe. When braking as hard as I can the bike feels a little "tied up." With the new isolator it seems to happen earlier. I used the bolt supplied with the kit. One of these years I may have a mounting boss welded-in for the 4th frame brace. That Stentzel bar looks nice, too. My riding isn't as spirited as it once was, but after a broken cylinder head and later a mounting bolt it seems like cheap insurance. | ||

Rick, i drilled out the updated isolator to take the larger grade 12 bolt. my friend who was helping me, used to road race a tube frame buell & was sponsored, he is also a motor cycle wrench. he did not like the look of the bolt that came with the mount. as not as strong & motor hangs from that bolt. i contacted Stenzelparts, Stephan is very helpfull still sells those bars. i told him i have the last update front isolator & it's slightly different waiting to hear back. | ||

I'll see how the supplied bolt holds up. The old bolt does look monstrous in comparison. I'm planning on buying a piece of 6061 flat bar to make my own brace. $85 bucks plus international shipping is a bit much for me at the moment. | ||

I have been using the Stenzel for about a year but with the old isolator. I anticipate needing a bronze bushing or insert of some type for it to work properly with the smaller bolt the newest isolator came with. Fortunately, the old one is still in good shape.  | ||

So, I guess I never realized the difference between the two. Anyone deciding to retro fit the Stenzel to the new style let me know, I have a Stenzel for the old style and new style isolator installed. | ||

Brinnutz i've fitted the Stenzel to the new style ISO, but i drilled out the new style ISO. you need to get a longer bolt, i machined a spacer to go into the stenzel where it fits to old style ISO. used a grade 12 alen head same diam as old style ISO as i did not feel safe riding with my motor hanging from that small diam bolt late ISO came with. no pic's as i did it at my friends workshop, then had to ride my bike 35k through heavy traffic home, i road it there road it home same day so i know it's a big improvement i could feel. my friend who helped me road raced a Buell X1 in Formula extream ten years back. he road my buell before could feel it flex, then after we fitted it he road it and came back very excited at how much improved the bike handled. i don't sell them i'm just giveing this info out free. | ||
