Whenever i am just out for a ride or with other bikers, IT NEVER FAILS! Someone always says "Is that a Ducati?" This happens at LEAST 10 - 15 times a week from random people! I ride a 99 x1, and im just curious, does this happen to anyone else?? |

yeah, especially with the x1 with the eurocomponents fairing, looks a little to a lot like a ducati super sport depending on your knowledge.... |

well i live in downtown Pittsburgh, from south side to bike night at station square i get this comment ALOT, enough to the point my roommate (2010 R6) and neighbor (2010 gixxer 750) bought OEM Ducati tank stickers and put them on my tank as a joke. When ever someone says "Is that a Ducati?" I like to say "No, it's better, it's a Buell" then ride away in a storm on thunderous exhaust |

I work at Autozone and we had 4 bikers total. We would all park them outside the front door in a line and at least once a day someone would ask who's ducati? One guy on a Harley even asked me if the ducati was mine, just started at him. I ride a 99 m2 in 'ducati' red |

I've heard it a couple times, I personally think that Buells sound better, handle better, and require less maintenance than a Ducati. |

I get that sometimes. The other day another rider, overhearing me get asked,"what kind of bike is that?" Me,"It's a Buell, made in America" Other rider,"hell,I thought that thing was eyetalyun",you sure it's made here?" I invited him to look at the tank cover. |

It wouldn't happen so much if ducati didn't rip off Erik's Trellis frame designs. If you look back to the 80's Buell was the only naked bikes with a trellis frame. |

Just tell them the pushrod tubes are the drive shafts for the desmo valve system, and then tell them to google 'desmodromic'. Should keep them busy for a year or two ; ) |

I've had a few people ask me what it was, then "whats that" after I say it's a Buell. Once, after telling someone it was a Buell, the guy nodded his head and said "OH" like he understood. There was a pause and he asked "are those made in Italy?" |

Hey don't forget that Erik raced a Ducati way back in the 70s
I've often thought of the X1 as a 1/4 american V8 stuffed into a ducati-like frame. I see the ducati comparison as a huge compliment. |

S1owner - thx for the major LOL and Mbsween: I've always considered the Buells a two-wheeled version of the cobra. Mine is even blue with white stripes! |

Coxster, That's an even better comparison! Always loved the race stripe models. but....didn't the cobra body/frame come from England ?? |

Intersting - I never got that comment on any of the Buells I've owned that I can recall. Plenty of "What IS that?", though! |

When I drive my S1W around New York City, I get asked if my bike is a Ducati. Like the others, my tank has been repainted and the Buell sticker is long gone. If you have a tube frame Buell and need to fish for compliments, come ride with me on the Lower East Side. It is not unusual to have someone sprint across a street or try to flag me down to talk about my bike. The best is when I had a guy come up to me at a light and tell me that my S1W was the best kit bike he had ever seen. Should have seen his face when I told him it was production with very little customization. |

Back when my S1 was red. Now that it's black/silver I get asked about my "custom Harley." |
