I just acquired a 2000 s3t on a trade. The guy I brought it from got it from the original owner, who after 2000mi put a Vance and Hines exhaust system and the bike stopped running correctly barley idling.

So the story goes the bike was left untouched since then. Then the guy I brought it from took it to a harley dealer in phoenix, and they were unfamiliar with it. They checked the compression on pistons, and pressure on the fuel pump all good. Owner decided to trade.

So I got the bike it wouldn't run at all
so pulled the injectors and cleaned them.
check for trouble code zero
I reset the tps to 4.6° and 5.1% per instructions
I got it barley to idle for 10 sec or they it would shut off.
It would blow excess fuel mist pressure out of the throttle body before shutting off.

Here's a video of the bike
I can't tell if the fuel maps or settings are stock.
For all I know the the prior owners could of messed with it.
I tried the bike with different tps settings, no difference.

From what I could see in the video, it looked like you had a couple of trouble codes. I was hard to read them.

4.6 or 5.1 may not be enough, try 5.6--6.1. And what is your AFV?
Did you make sure TPS reset was done with throttle blades completely closed?

I agree with THE JOSH, to check the timing, when i did my tps reset i had to set it a tiny bit higher then 5.1.

01x1buell: I had those same codes and replaced the ET sensor and the problem went away. Maybe he has a combination of bad TPS reset & bad ET sensor. Just my guess, for what it's wotrh.

I tried the higher 5.9 no go AFV was tried at stock reading of 150% then I reset it to 100%.
Did the reset with the throttle fully closed I verified screw back off all the wary from the butterfly stop.

And the trouble codes are just a historic list of prior codes currently zero codes.

Just cause you RESET the AFV does not mean that it will stay there. YOUR bike is running VERY VERY lean with the afv of 150 , if it is in deed 150 then you have something very off in your machine, I know you saw the trouble codes did you try to fix them by resorting to your FSM??

The first reading I got with the ecmspy was 150 on the AFV.
I reset them according to the values in the ecmpsy 2.0 tunning guide of 100 AFV, This is my first fuel injected buell, I have a high learning curve ahead of me.
What is the recommended settings.

The battery is good I pulled it from my carbed s3.
fuel pressure on pump is 40psi+

From my understanding from the readouts on the trouble codes they are just historic.
There's two tables the upper shows zero codes and the bottom shows historic or am I wrong.

Can anybody tell if the maps are okay. I can post pics.
I don't know if the prior owners messed with the ecm.

Ok , Yes they are in the historic section BUT WHY, and the high AFV means you need more fuel, again BUT WHY, maybe the intake seels or exhaust header gasket, or maybe the PO just f*c*ed everything up

well after reading your first post again i noticed that the PO put a V and H exhaust on it. All i know is that when i put my d&d on with the forcewinder intake it ran very lean

i would try checking the intake seal first then if that fails try adding some more fuel across the whole fuel map(front and rear) and see what that does. What color are your plugs??

Yeah pretty much so the guy stop using it after the vance and hines, He started messing with but how far I don't know. Even with a exhaust leak it should at least idle longer I think?
Haven't pulled the plugs yet I going to have to check them tomorrow at work now.
The intake sensor reads proper ohms value
O2 sensor in specs also
The pump has pressure but I will check the ohms on it to be sure.
Have checked the ET sensor yet
Also my bike is CA model with emission can

Those ET sensors can get wonky on you and mimic other problems.

How long has it been sitting?

Any chewed wires? Anything unplugged from the muffler swap, that you and the PO have missed?

Forget idling - will it start and run if you hold the throttle to keep it around 2k rpm to warm up? If so, do that for a couple minutes, then let it heat-soak for 5 min or so. THEN, do the TPS reset and see how it goes.

How did you clean injectors? And that fuel pressure seems low but not at shop with manual.
AFV of 150 means ecm was adding 50% more fuel to compensate for a VERY lean area in the learned fuel area.
If fuel pressure is low that would do it. And sounds like you should do intake seals as bike sat for a long time.

I would leave the battery on the charger while you are tinkering.Take the headlight fuse out to save power. Very Very important to have a fully charged battery at all times with FI.
Plug in EcmSpy choose EEPROM from EcmSpy desktop, then Fetch EEPROM from ECM.This takes a while, you can see it downloading at the bottom of EcmSpy.
After that choose Trouble codes;then Clear trouble codes.
Now in Diagnostics, Run all the diagnostics starting from the top, don't run fuel pump test then test the coils because it will backfire and scare shit out of you.
You have no fan and no muffler control.
Now Back to trouble codes,Read trouble codes.
This should give you an idea where to start.
