So who can guess what was on the lathe tonight?

2.5" 6061 aluminum. 0.5" wall thickness. 8.125" length.

At 0.5" wall thickness, I hope it's not a breather (gonna be a little heavy).

I'm going to go with replacement shock tube for an early S1 or S2 alloy bodied shock.

most shock bodies are steel

Is that the mount for that swingarm you've been wanting to mount?

Dropped the swing arm off at the machine shop today to get the bore notched in it. Hoping to have it mounted by monday.

Not sure you have too much else left on your bike to swap out other than that bulky headlight. lol

i traded my industrial Carolina Bandsaw for it... but you can pick something up like this for $400 or so, with an additional $100-200 in jaws and toolings.

my only complaint is the jaws are a bit small. On one of the last passes last night just pipe jumped out and marred the end a bit.

that is not a bad price at all, I do not have alot of experience on them buti would say a little bit over a year on a big industrial one i might have to buy one just so i can have it in the future. BTW great work on the pieces and i know welding aluminium is a royal pain in the ass.

Ehh ,not much room for a dust seal!
But it looks you did not press the bearing cups in completely ,right!?
It looks promising

they are pressed in. There are no dust seals on the swing arms. The race face sits on the swing arm lug.

Should have the swing arm back tomorrow ready to be welded. (or so I'm told. Who knows if he'll actually finished it.)

You should definitely have some on there. FYI.

Or, be prepared for very occasional bearing failure. The fit right in so it shouldn't be a problem, you just need the right ones if they're different bearings than stock.

By the way... making things is so exciting.

I'll be sad when I finish.

Does anyone want to buy a reinforced steel swing arm?

By the way Fox ,you know that the thickest side of the swingarm spacers are sticking into the swingarm for around 7 millimeters!?
that's also the area where the dust seal is

What?! damnit. back to the lathe...

Gr. I knew I should have taken the swing arm off first. Do you happen to have a measurement of any sort? Does the outside of the lug end up flush with the outside of the mounting block?

Thanks for saving me some trouble.
