Just won this tank on ebay for $50. This should fit my '97 M2 right? I currently have a 2 gallon slim tank on mine. Need the extra capacity to go on longer rides.

i don't think that the s1 tank is that much larger than your slim M2 tank. But, yes, it will fit. I have an S1 tank on my '99 M2.

If you want extra capacity, you'll want the Manta tank.

And the Manta tank is an S1W tank.

If it's the gray one labeled "sold"...it looks like a Manta, from someone who doesn't know what year/application it's from.

A stock, correct 97 S1 tank will be identical to your early M2 tank.

The Manta debuted on the 98 S1W and was later used on the 99-up M2 and S3's. Same as Thunderstorm heads.

Well, I got the tank yesterday. It is certainly bigger and the shape does remind me of a manta ray. Mostly wider in size than taller.

Do these tanks have liners inside them or are they just plain plastic tanks?

One thing I like is the locking gas cap. Which on my slim tank, did not have. My key fits!

The keys aren't lock specific for the gas caps. The locks will take any barrel key styled like ours.
