There should be BLACK TABS under your seat to hook the helmet "D" ring on ...

I have one of the same type of locks as Buellish noted, it is just there to keep the honest people honest, but I do feel comfortable if I have to leave my helmet on it. I have mine mounted on the aft frame under seat, and it can't even be seen unless you look under the bodywork.

Buellistic no such tabs on an S1, remember the seat just comes off with a thumbscrew no locking it like an S3.

My M2 had 4 black nylon cloth loop tabs sticking out from under the seat, look like for general purpose bungee attaching. Would be so easy to cut I don't think I'd hook my helmet to it. Plenty of metal bits to loop the locking carabiner to. I have one of them, in black, as well. They don't seem very strong at the locking point, again, mainly to keep honest people honest. The carabiners work for anything, not just helmets. My briefcase rear seat bag, or combined with a little steel cable, holds my jacket or riding suit. Handy little things.

I use an extra Kryptonite "U" lock for the front disk to secure to my bike's frame on the left side of the bike, run through the "D" ring and then to the bottom of the rear down tube.

People have lost helmets that were locked to d rings. Thieves just cut the strap.

I use a lightweight cable and lock through the chin bar and around the frame.
