I have seen some one posting that they drilled out the end of the transmission shift drum and taped the end for the detent plate.
I’ve looked but haven’t found it any one knows about this.

Yep,machine the retainer clip groove off and drill&tap for 10 button head.

Do a search for shift drum there is a lot of info here on that subject.
You will need to take the trans out, if you can take the primary apart the trans is the easy part.
Ask Buellistic he has compiled a lot of how to information on Buell repair and is willing to share. Jramsey is the one that told me about drilling the shift drum.
