Can anyone out there help with a question I have regarding a model issue for an Amigo tank bag? I've aquired one of these new,it's for a 1999 or 2000 X1 Lightning, however I'd like to use it on a 2002 M2 Cyclone,I thought the tanks were similar if not the same, but I'm not sure. Thanks in advance for the help! BTW I have an XB12scg,the info is to help a friend.

the tank design is quite different, but the overall shape is very similar.

maybe because the X1 has a tank cover that attaches differently, the tank bag might attach using different hardware????

did it come with instructions?

the ones for the M2 and other standard style manta tanks have a strap that connects to the bolt near the seat. the X1 tank doesn't have this bolt AFAIK, so it probably connects some other way that may not work on the M2????

Thanks for the input Sleez, yes it came with instructions and if I'm remembering correctly it attaches with 2 bolts but I thought they were on the front portion of the tank, I'll have to double check & maybe be a bit more thorough this time thanks again!

After reviewing the instructions the front of the bag mounts to the front frame tube with straps & the rear strap mounts under fuel cell bracket which is held on with 2 bolts, apparently the supplied bolts are just longer ones for the bracket allowing for the extra space of the strap.Guessing the M2 doesn't have the bracket or another set-up entirely?

I've got one and you're right. Just wrap it around the frame at the neck for your front straps and you'll have to anchor it someway in the back. I don't know how an M2 tank attaches in the rear but there has to be someway to anchor it there. All the rear is, IIRC, is a flap of material with a male snap bracket. Good luck and good find. These Amigo's will hold a ton of stuff when they're expanded.

I've seen how both tanks attach to the frame, only seen the X1 bag though. (still trying to figure out how to mount a manta tank to my X1 without making it ugly) I'd recommend cutting a hole in the rear strap for the bag, and anchoring it around the bolt for the seat.

Thanks to all, I just needed a confirmation of what the cover/cell mount is in the rear of the M2 tank set-up, should be able to figure out an ok configuration to mount the strap without much difficulty.
