I got myself a Baker smooth shift kit as my S3 shifts like poo. The drum came today & the detent plate does not sit flush on the 4 pins. It seems that the blind holes on the detent plate are drilled to different depths. This doesn't seem right to me. Am I missing something? Kris (Message edited by knwyman on June 28, 2012) | ||

have you checked the depths, and confirmed that some of your pins have not backed out to different lengths? | ||

No, I haven't. The pins look to be the same length... I tried to pull on one bit it wouldn't budge. They seem pressed in. I'm going to measure the pins & see if I can find some kind of a depth gauge -I think a caliper I have has one on it. But it should sit flush on the pins, no? | ||

Found it. One of the pins is less chamfered than the other three and about .75mm taller. The top of it is concave. I'm wondering if the pin is inserted upside down in the shaft. Going to give Baker a call in the morning & see what they say. | ||

 Don't forget this. Pull the pins and use green locktite on them or will continue to fall apart. good luck | ||

Thanks Alfau. Mine didn't come with instructions. I think the pins probably are green loc tited in. Definitely calling Baker when they're open... | ||

Alfau... does this modification apply to stock parts as well? I assume they did not change the profile too much... I always have false neutrals if I shift too fast... | ||

Pins are famous for coming loose. not good, but true. Do a search on DETENT PLATE, big headaches. Foximus This information is from Baker for the Baker smooth shift modification only. Not for stock. You probably need to adjust your primary chain. Start your own thread and call it "jumps out of gear". you should get a few bites. |
