I was double checking my bike this evening getting ready for a trip to West Virginia tomorrow and decided to check my catch can and see if there was any fluid. When I opened the valve on the bottom of the catch can clear water looking fluid came out followed by a little fluid that resembled the color of grey poupon mustard. I only have about 250 miles on the bike since I bought it and completed all the maintenance and upgrades (including catch can). What is this clear fluid? Is it anything to worry about?
I have my breather and crankcase breather lines routed to it.
This is my first trip of any length with the bike and i would like some peace of mind before I head out in the morning.
ANy help is much appreciated.

Yeah, the other stuff is a mixture of components of blow-by gases, oil and water vapor.

Enjoy your trip.

The 'other' stuff is commonly referred to as "milkshake" and is a mix of oil vapor and water. The shorter your rides, the more milkshake you'll get. It's your engine burning off condensation from temp changes.

Thanks for the quick responses. There was a decent amount of water that came out of the catch can. How often do you guys drain them?

Is there any way to help prevent all this water?

Depends on how much yours produces. Just empty it every so many fill-ups, depending on how often your experience says is best.

Nope.

Empty the catch can contents onto a couple of sheets of paper towel. Then you can examine what you have. Most of it is water as stated.

Enjoy your trip...I'm jealous...
