I just received a Vance & Hines exhaust from a fellow member and have some questions.

The exhaust that I bought has what looks like a powder coated or some sort baked on black finish on the front pipe that connects to the header. I thought all off the Vance & Hines exhaust's had the stainless steel front pipe. When did they switch to the black pipe?

Can anyone that has a Vance & Hines pipe take some measurements of the rear mounting bracket for me? This one did not come with a mounting bracket. I posted in the parts wanted but I also thought that if I had the dimensions of the bracket I could make one as well. If anyone else has made their own rear bracket and has any words of wisdom please share.

THe V&H pipe was made for 1 or 2 cycles with a black header pipe - I believe it corresponded with the years the M2 came with a factory black pipe (maybe 2002 only?). Back in the day you had to specify the year of your bike when ordering direct from V&H so that you got the correct color pipe.

I know that there was a difference between the 2" inlet and the 2 1/2" inlet, but other than that will a 2 1/2" model fit on all the Buells with a 2 1/2" inlet or is it model specific?

Any 2 1/2" V&H SS2R will fit on any tuber with a 2 1/2" collector (assuming the chin spoiler does not interfere, if you have a chin spoiler).

The back bracket is sort of a squared off U-shape. It would be easy to make if you could get a drawing or picture of it. Sorry I don't have any. Do you have the dog-bone or do you need that as well?

Good luck

I have a set of Vance & Hines Bigshots on my VTX and Vance & Hines sent me an extra set of dog bones. So as long as the dog bones are universal I should have a set. I will have to double check when I get home.

The bracket seems simple enough to make I just need the dimensions and maybe a pic or two.

having finally just given up on trying to remove the V&H to drain the primary - because of the PITA rear mounting bracket - i would consider fabbing a custom rear mounting bracket/strap if that's a possibility for you.

Thylacine,

is that the stock mount or is that one that you had fabricated?

I need to try and get some dimensions. Width, Height, bolt holes. If anyone can help I would appreciate it.

It is stock. I've never had an issue with it. I'm kind of embarrassed about this picture after taking this I realized I have metal dust all over my bike. It is not visible in person. I grinded some stuff off with bike assembled.

Thanx , sorry to hijack the thread. It really was for the exhaust mount. It is hard to refrain.

actually, i don't believe this is true, when i was shopping for a VH for my 98 S1W, i assumed this and learned the hard way. I got one for the later tubers and the angle for the inlet is different, it put the muffler going off to the side. I was lucky to get a proper one specifically for the '98s from a Badwebber..

I'll try to post something when I get home.

Jeremy,I made an actual size drawing of my rear mount but it's 33kb too big to download to the Badweb. It's an odd shape and not something I can explain without a picture.
