So strolling the ebay shopping for a shock for my x1 and I notice there's a few out there of the s2/s3, which - correct me if I'm wrong - is the 14" length shock. My x1 has the 16" shock I believe and the thought came to mind that if I could hunt down the right bracket I could make one of these work? If so anyone got a good idea where I could find one? | ||

Yes you need the small shock bracket to go with it and it should work | ||

Ok yeah that's what I figured.. I would think there would be a ton of them layin' around from people swapping to the bigger shock. Anyone on the board got any spare ones they're willing to part with? | ||

The short shock was the final update to the design and the final recall version. So a stock S2 would never have a short shock, neither would an S3, M2 or X1 until the later 2001 models and I believe all 2002's...UNLESS the older models had the recall performed to update it to the final version, the shorty. Excellent thanks for the information guys! A 16-incher just got listed the other day so I might try to go for that one first, unless it would be unwise to get another 16-inch and have it fail very soon.. So I guess next question; are the two different lengths apples to oranges in quality/longevity or pretty much the same tier? |
