After breaking the original belt on my 01 M2L, I figured I should replace the rear isolators with the belt. What a job and in my personal opinion, using the spreader tool is the way to go on the isolators. I made my own tool with 3/8" all thread, nuts, washers and some sockets. Anyway to my question, once I got her all together and went for a test ride, I now have a lean issue with engine missing and sputtering, with choke on the bike runs better and doesn't decel pop, so I know its not a electrical issue. I just did the intake seals and I thought I may have lost the fuel adjust screw but it is there. I'm hoping its something simple like a clogged low speed jet or pinched fuel line. Any suggestions beside what I think it might be?

I'm going to give it a try tonight when I pull the carb off. It was running great, it sat for a week and a half while I waited on parts, fired right up but started sputtering and coughing right away. I figured the fuel screw may have vibrated out (I have had that happen before on dirt bikes) but it was still in place.

Check the vacuum line on the carb.

Good point charlie, I didn't look there. Buellistic, I made all the jetting mods you mentioned before. I know I have a clogged jet or vacumm leak somewhere. I forgot to check the vacumm line and since I moved stuff around its possible I knocked it loose or off.

Right on the money Charlie!!! Vacuum line was disconnected from carb. Talk about a feeling of relief, I wasn't in the mood to tear apart the carb after replacing the isolators and drive belt this weekend.

200 miles of riding this weekend, not one problem, even cured the base gasket leak on the rear cylinder. Crankcase vent hose was kinked so I routed the hoses back to the intake tract to avoid crankcase pressure and the base gasket leak went away. Some things are just better off left alone...or until I get the banjo bolt breathers from Al. lol
