At different times I have noticed Tuber Specific how to information disappearing from the Kv ( getting lost in the archive )

In the 1125 board area, Froggy or some one had set some fixed threads up ( closed and locked ) for various projects

I KNOW we have lost Fork RE-build, Shock Rebuild, Front Iso replacement, and Rear Iso replacement threads, The oil pump gear,
the Grenade plate etc.....

I would be willing to help...

I think it is a good idea, but I don't know how involved it would be.

That is a wonderful idea.

One another forum that I have been a member of for years (advrider) there is a "sticky" thread for FAQs for the the BMW GS. It is an invaluable resource.

While it is a very ambitious project for anyone to take on, it would be especially valuable to owners of a bike that is no longer supported by dealers or the manufacturer.

Here's a link to the one mentioned above for reference if anyone is interested in trying something similar.

http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=326162

Another, simpler, but possibly just as effective method would be a "sticky" of links to individual threads covering specific topics of interest. At least this way the threads wouldn't get lost in the archives and could be collected in that one central location. This is just a thread index like this one for the KTM LC4 also on advrider:

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86 958

People like myself that has just entered the Buell world has many questions, and while the members here are particularly helpful, I'm sure that getting the same questions over and over again becomes tiresome.. An easy to use index of relevant threads can be very helpful to someone new and trying to find information. The search feature is fine, but if you don't know to search for something like the "Grenade Plate" then you don't know about it, whereas if it's in a central depository like one of the ones above, then even complete Buell noobs like myself can be saved from our own ignorance.

The forum here is a victim of it's age - ADVrider and a few others I frequent are on vbulletin or equivalent, and offer a much more robust feature set.

I think the layout here had good intention and likely worked well when it was much smaller, but I've found that, for the most part, perusing the KV is mostly useless and making a post in there gets VERY little attention as folks generally just use Old School, 1125Board, XBoard, etc.

I would guess it to be a maintenance nightmare to keep those threads in their own folder, but it sure would be helpful, even for seasoned Buellers.

FIRST of all there TOO MANY Tube Frame Models which are basically the same which means duplications ...

SECOND, none of the MONITORS except the THUMPer FORUM MONITORS are willing to take on such an IDEA ...

THIRD, everything eventually gos to the ARCHIVES and sometime hard to find and that is why if you want any HELP "INFO" that "i" have, just PM me for a copy ...

It isn't closed or locked, anyone can contribute to it. I hop in once in a while to clean it up, as people occasionally post irrelevant things there.

There is one on the Uly section too, great as an FAQ type section with the common faults and questions right at your finger tips.

While it could make things more complicated, it wouldn't be too much of an issue. A problem/solution thread would be something like "Turn signal fluid leaks - Affects 99-01 X1 models", then something more common like belt adjustment can say "How to adjust your belt - All belt driven models". That thread would have the generic guide with notes for any specific model differences.

You are wrong about that. I know for a fact that M2NC, Ulywife, Ft_bstrd, and I have all made contributions on the Uly version, but I do believe I am the only one who has done anything with the 1125 one. I don't visit the tuber area often, so I don't know how much help I would be, but I love screwing around with the forum : D

The whole point of these is that they are effectively stickied, and archiving is not an issue.

A FAQ type section would be easy and very doable, without the complexity and emptiness that the current KV has. One thing that is nice, we can submit new "threads" that are just links to old discussions, so if there is a particularly good old thread that should be part of the FAQ, it is no problem to link to it.

Froggy +2, FTW, with ponies!

Also, there would be a lot of overlap with some of the links and general info that is in The X1-Files.

But there is a LOT more in depth and detailed information and posts/threads on this forum that could be collated and organized for all. I would be happy to be able to link in older threads as I find them, as I use them. It would just be such a simple way to "give back" and/or "pay forward."
