My 00' X1 had a hesitation in a certain spot when I applied the throttle a few months back. I had a race ECM on the shelf so my Buell buddy (who races Buells and sells HD's) told me to put swap in the race ECM. Sure enough no hesitation, runs strong. I've even done a track day with it. I'm wondering as a precaution should I have the TPS reset or leave well enough alone. I don't want to hand over HD my money if it's not necessary. I don't have the equipment to do on my own. Please advise.

Why would you give HD any money? The cable for resetting the ECM is less than $30.00! It would cost you more just to walk in and say hello to those fools.

In theory, yes. You need to reset the TPS.
In theory, that ECM would make the bike run like crap if it was a new off-the-shelf part.

Sounds to me like it was once on your bike and then removed?
If so, it was reset in the past and still remembers your bike.

If it runs right with not crapiness off idle, I would suggest letting sleeping dogs lie.

www.AmericanSportBike.com has the reset box ...

It will probably cost 1/2 what a H-D "STEALERSHIP" charges to do one reset ...

OK. I'm ignorant when it comes to this area. Is there a link to get the cable and what is the reset box? I could not find on the American Sport Bike web site. Do I need to hook up to my laptap and need software to do the reset?
