oil light would never come on even without the engine runnng.
had a bad switch... changed the switch.
now light would never go out?
pulled oil pump to look at drive gear.gear looked ok... looked at oil pump and oil pump gear is worn and i found one of the gerotors are cracked!!! is the pump worth re-building or just get a new pump.

If you get a new oil pump GET THE XB -02B and up-date the OIL PUMP DRIVE GEAR to the
XB -02B ...

good on you for getting the light working. It sounds like you may have just saved yourself alot of money in a rebuild.

Well it looks like i did not make a great save...
took the rear cylinder apart for a base gasket leak and the piston and cylinder are scored, overheated from low/no oil!!!
pulled the front piston and have the same thing. cyclinders will be bored and honed .010 over and pistons will be replaced. heads will be cleaned and new valve seals installed.
also found the cap on the intake manifold test port was cracked, intake seals were bad.
after all this i should basically have a NEW bike.
Well count this one as another "SAVED" buell from the chopper block.
