Hello,
I have a rear wheel bearing spun at sprocket side (probably because of tight belt). My S2 is a very early model and has only 1 thick (measures 0.81" = 20.57 mm) bearing that side. It reads NSK 6205RS but Googling told me 6205RS is only 15 mm thick. Does someone know what part number I should look for?

Maybe the part number is 5205RS, which has correct dimension of 25 mm * 52 mm * 13/16 " (=20.6 mm). The first number was difficult to read. I will check again this weekend and repost.

Just bring it to a good bearing shop, they will match it for you.

Yes, it is the only S2 in the country: ) I brought it with me in 2010, when I moved to the country after a year of stay at Maryland. Bringing in a vehicle over the ocean involves, most of all, a full inspection of the vehicle at government-operated motor vehicle inspection and registration service (or whatever...). (it is much more complicated process than it sounds). They looked up their database of registered motorcycle types for Buell S2. Of course no entry was found (S2 is rare even in US). They had to create a new entry for Buell S2 with all the technical informations like displacement, engine type, wheelbase... So my S2 was the first and the only one ever registered in the country. I do not think anyone would have brought another one since then.
Back to the thread, I will closely inspect what is on the old bearing this weekend (I am away for work weekdays), and bring it to nearby bearing shop. They have a large sign "TIMKEN" out front of the shop, and also retails NSKs.

Checked old bearing last weekend. Number on the rubber seal is 6205RS while number on the inner race is 5205. As 5205 and 6205 share the same external dimension except the width, the rubber seals are compatible. It was confusing though. Make is JAF. Anyway I have installed a new bearing (IJK, good quality, ~ 7 USD) with Loctite 641. With a hair drier heating up the wheel hub for ~5 minutes, it was just a matter of dropping in the bearing. I haven't tried the bike yet.

BTW, wheels on the bike are both PM's front and rear. I have another set of PM's (new design I believe), of which the rear wheel has 2 bearings installed on the pulley side. The new design is documented on my FSM, but the old design is not... It took me by surprise because I already have stockpiled bearings for the new-design rear PM.

I'm a little confused by your reference to old and new PM when you say the new PM is documented in your FSM. I consider the old style to have a slot each of the "spokes" where the new ones don't have a slot. The slotted style should be what's in your FSM, and at least during the S3 era with slotted wheels two bearings were used on the drive side.
Does that match your definition of old and new? What manual do you have?

Sorry for not responding to your question.
My definition(?) of old and new style PM's both have same appearance with a slot on each spoke. They look the same (at least to my bare eyes with no rulers...) but early rear PM as on my early S2 (I do not have VIN for now) has only 1 thick bearing on pulley side. It is not documented on FSM, which is embarrassing. I did not know it either until I tried to replace it.
I know existence of "your new style PM" without slots. I have a Buell booklet featuring those very expensive accessories.
BTW, I have finally resolved the spun bearing. To make a long story short, Loctite 641, 660 did not work for me probably because aluminum RIM hub and stainless steel outer bearing race are both inactive metal and the gap between hub and bearing is too large at ~ 0.004 ". Neither with primer 7471 set (no cure) after a week at room temperature. So I bought a stainless steel sheet shim of 0.005 " thick to fill the gap. I applied Loctite 660 to both side of shim sheet as I was afraid it would spin again. 641 could have been the right choice because 660 is harder to disassemble, but the instruction sheet tells applying localized heat would weeken the bond. I would not worry about it until need arises after many 10 thousand miles.

If your "thick" bearing is thick enough to equal two "regular" bearings...I'd say someone cheated on a replacement somewhere along the line and bought one instead of two. AFAIK, all PM's were three-bearing wheels, but maybe someone (1313?) can prove me wrong...

I do not think someone replaced the bearing ever, because I bought a never-registered bike with ~ 300 miles, and 5205 is ~ 21 mm, 6205 is 15 mm (2 * 15 != 21 mm) and in that case longer spacer is needed. Quite a few parts do not match exactly my latest FSM (99570-96Y). Even rim specification is missing on the wheel which was a factory recall item. Mine was built in Apr/94 (I need to check the label on the frame).

Early S2 models with PM wheels used a single large bearing on the pulley side. Later S2s came with two bearings. I'll see if I can locate the numbers to night or tomorrow night.

I have two of the early "wide" PM pulley side bearings.
the original that I removed because it was making noise, and a second spare replacement.
First bearing:
original S2 built in May 1994
Brand - Nachi
number on seal - 5205NS
Other side seal is missing - no other markings.

Second bearing:
New replacement in a numberless HD sleeve
Brand (I think) - NBR
Number on seal, first side - 13-2 NBR+Fe
Other side on seal - 13-2 NBR+Fe
On edge of inner race:

H-D 9247
T03 20
INA 45

I have the original disc side bearing that came from the same early S2 wheel.
Brand on seal - SKF
