Ran into a friend-of-a-friend last night.
"Hey, Scott's got a Buell....Joe here is big into Buells, you guys should talk bikes".

Turns out Scott's Buell is a one-owner 95 S2 in Black Sapphire, with about 6k miles!

Anyway, due to a sidestand or garage accident or something, he's looking for a tail section. I told him I'd put some feelers out and see if anyone had one. I'll post in classifieds, too...but let me know if you have one you can part with! Option 2 would be a full set of decals so he can get it all repainted...

Rat, I may know of one.
I'll let you know. Does it need to be painted or can he take care of it?

I can present him with whatever we can find. Painted would be ideal...but he'll paint the whole bike if we can't find one that matches.

I've got a silver one I'd let go of. There's a small crack under the tail light that's hard to see. It looks like someone tried to bondo from the back side before repainting it.

he'll paint the whole bike if we can't find one that matches.

Don't intend to be Debbie the downer, but realistically the color match on Black Sapphire Pearl parts is not guaranteed. There were a handful of occurrences where an entire bodyset was supplied when one piece was warrantied due to poor color match of the initial warranty replacement part to the rest of the bodywork on an S2.

If your bud finds a BSP tail that matches the rest of his bodywork, have him buy a lottery ticket! Otherwise you might just want to find whatever you can and prepare your bud for the likelihood of painting all the bodywork.

Some of the other S2 colors were just as susceptible to poor color match as well,

I wondered about the color match. I ended up with a front fairing from a bike parted out from Arizona a few years back intending to paint it. It looks waaay too good to paint! Since then I've lusted for a BJP bike more than any other color. Attempts to determine who bought the other pieces have come up empty, though.

Yeah, but if it's a BSP tail...and it's "close"...I can nag him to get out and ride the damn thing until this winter, then I can strip it and take it to a friend of mine who paints, to do the whole bike.

He just needs to...what's the magic phrase...oh - "just go ride the motorcycle". : ) Like my co-worker, with a 1-owner S2T that hasn't run in six years. Nagging me to fix it for him. "OK, load it on the trailer and I'll do it".

Still sits in his barn...

The other issue for a color match is that the existing painted parts will have experienced some color fade, or loss of glass, etc. He should just paint the whole thing if he is really concerned about the match to a great degree.

I thought I saw one but it turned out to be for wrong model.

I did find this headlight, not sure which bike it is for but it's cheap.

I have some bodywork.

tank cover and tailsection. they are yellow, but in pretty good shape, if you were wanting to do a paint job. Not much into packing it up and mailing it off anywhere. too big, would cost a lot, but I would sell to someone locally in Arizona. could pick it up, vrs. packing and mailing.

Also have a fairing

Looks like an S2 headlight.

And a late RS/RSS headlight, and maybe even RR's. S2's PN code was .8, so .4 goes back a ways.

Early RS/RSS headlights were plastic, but with the same size/shape. Shame the manufacturer destroyed the tooling when they obsoleted the light from their product line.

Flashback off,

Rex, I've been doing some research on the S2 light and I believe that a Jeep headlight that has a replaceable bulb is what will work well in the S2. But have not completely verified that yet.

I'll buy that Yellow S2 and then see if my Jeep Cheeroke headlights fit. I'll let you know.

I forget what the application was, but I did get an automotive H4 replaceable bulb headlight for my S2 a few years ago.

I think they do match my Cherokee (XJ).

A note if you want *usable light output*? Get an "E-code" light, not a DOT light. Instead of just a blob of light that's almost effective (DOT), the E-code throws a beam that is actually useful on both high and low.

I think I got mine from Autoanything.com; it's a Hella with glass lens.
