Ok, somebody help me out with this. I'll be changing out my fork seals and i have some questions on the home made version of the driver. An actual fork seal driver is a two piece unit and has a substantial weight to it to hammer the seal down. If I make one out of PVC what will give it the weight or ability to drive the seal down? Am I missing something? Any suggestions or designs or materials that work better then others? pictures? I'll take whatever you have to offer.

thanks.

You should be able to just use a piece of wood on the top. Take a 2x4 or something sim drill into it the diameter of your pipe so it sits on it use a rubber mallet to drive it

I use a PVC pipe cut in half, works well, does not mar the metal surfaces.
I have a couple of different sizes, and thicknesses to accomodate the different forks on all my bikes.

If you use screw clamps to clamp the two halves to the fork tube, the weight of the lower leg is enough to drive in the seal.

What Mike said.
If you use PVC pipe, make sure to chamfer the inside lip so as not to nick the seal lip.
