Ok my bike is a 96 S1 and the part that bolts to the frame right behind the fuse box is that the ECM if so I have one from a 2000 M2 that says RACE ONLY would it benifits me to install this on my 96 | ||

And when everyone is done.... I think its got the same advance curve as stock but just has to no rev-limiter. so now you can rev it up to 7 or 8 grand. Rebuild after every race, though. | ||

A 2000 race module will have the same rev limit as stock. The only real difference is that the stock module will start to retard a few hundred rpm below the limit where as the race one will continue hard right to the limit. Memory tells me that the rev limit is 6800 for 2000 and up. Hardly noticeable for most on the street but if some one has installed higher lift cams, etc that really increases top end performance, then the race module would help in the 6500-6800 range. If running the stock M2 cams then stock is fine as they are more of a low down torque cam any way. | ||

If i recall correctly, 1313 posted that they dont do much, i think he said they dynoed his s2 with thunderstorm top with and without the pro series ign module. | ||

I ran one on my 97 m2, some people say they can feel a difference, personally i think its a placebo effect. | ||

Only difference between the stock M2 and Race M2 module is the rev limiter. The stocker has a soft retard at the top from about 6400 to 6800 RPM, the race is full advance all the way to the 6800 limiter. If memory serves, the 96 S1 module has a different pinout than the 2000 and up modules. | ||
