I have a fair amount of Genuine Buell Carbon Fiber on my bike. I noticed on my rear hugger after I washed the bike that there is white/grey blemishes in the clearcoat? It would be comparable to what mold looks like... any one know what im talking about and how to make these spots go away? Its like my carbon has an STD...

the carbon is dying from UV exposure. Sand it off and apply several layers of a quality clearcoat. A quality clearcoat will give you UV protection.

Are you sure it is not hitting the under tray when you hit a bump?

My S2's greenie air filter cover does that when I wash it - water gets under the clear, and fogs. Let it dry. I also hit mine with some polishing compound (POLISHING, not rubbing), and it takes that topmost layer off.

+1 on fresh clearcoat. I think the fog comes from pinholes in the resin, allowing water in. But mine always cleans up OK, so I just forget about it till the next time I wash it.

My #1 riding buddy owns a body shop, quality paints give UV protection. The UV is what kills the clear coat, carbon fiber, paint....

My once blue carbon fiber has turned a nice shade of moss green. Fortunately I bought one of Al's last cf tank covers.

If you want something really rare find one (well, two cause I want one too) of the Japanese CF wind screens with the small pegasus logo in the bottom corner.

The flyscreen in Preybird1's post is the factory flyscreen for a Non-Japan 1999 Carbon Fiber Extreme X1.

Here's a pic of the Japanese 1999 Carbon Fiber Extreme X1 flyscreen:

99 CFE X1 flyscreen

I've always had a soft spot for the 1999 CFE X1's...
