I have a 2000 s3t that i just bought, and im learning about its needs. It has the forcewinder intake on it and it dumps a fair bit of oil into the filter, so much that its dripping out onto the exhuast now. Is there a better set or is it just a matter of keeping the filter cleaned regularly.
Thanks

UP-DATED

Puking oil out the head breathers is a good indication that you are over filling the oil tank or an indiacation of the UMBRELLA VALVES have gone bad ...

Most of the TUBE FRAME BUELLers have up-date to XB rocker arm covers ...

With the engine at operating temperature you check the engine oil ...

NEVER TOP OFF THE OIL TANK UNLESS THE ENGINE IS AT OPERATING TEMPERATURE AND RUNNING ...

THEN TAKE ANOTHER RIDE BECAUSE THE ENGINE OIL DRAINS BACK INTO THE BOTTOM END WHEN YOU REMOVE THE OIL CAP/PLOG ...

You should have a 2 inch air space in your oil tank ...

One of the best "PRODUCT IMPROVEMENTS" is to run the head breathers into a catch container which should also include the gas tank over flow hose, float bowl over flow hose, and THE TRANSMISSION BREATHER HOSE ...

You should also get the FACTORY PARTS BOOK for your YEAR/MODEL BUELL ...

THIS ALLOWS YOU TO TALK THE PARTS PERSON AT THE HARLEY-DAVIDSON STEALERSHIP BUELL SERVICE CENTER SO THEY DO NOT GET CONFUSED ...

Hey Clay, if you mean the 'billet EBOC' I have one I'm about to put on eBay, the exact model. Not perfect, but very good shape. Let me get a picture of it, if you're interested.

2000 M2. It got a little "use" as in some splooge went in there, but it's cleaned it up.
I don't have the metal clamp, mine came zip-tied (on my used M2.) These clamps are available from several places, zip-ties too, I suppose. The weight of a clamp would be equal to about 30 to 40 zip-ties, I'd guess.

The forcewinder's breather arrangement is the worst I have seen.
It looks cute but seems designed to deliberately condense the oily water vapor and deposit it on your right boot and leg.

I just routed mine to the ground.
It's mostly water by volume anyways.

Not sure if it's mostly water, and in any case I'd want to keep it off my bike and tires, so I use the catch can Prey posted. Perfect size, perfect price. I was running the line back into the air cleaner just to keep a cleaner appearance, but I was still getting some oiliness in there so I'm going to run a second small filter, just not sure where I'm going to put it yet.

Wow, that Pegasus one is inexpensive. Not made in China is it? The K&N little filter for the top costs about as much as the aluminum container.
Sure kills the market for the American Sport Bike one! $100 difference. Well, if you buy the little filter, the price almost doubles, so $80 diff.

The American Sport Bike one is definitely nicer, but on my budget the Pegasus one has been doing the trick!

I've got the transmission vent and breather vents tied into it. I haven't quite gone to the extreme that LaFayette suggests as far as the fuel tank vent and carburetor overflow line, but they are good suggestions.

Very cool thanks for all the info. From what i see the Force intake isnt that great, all it does is dump the oil into the filter then drips through onto the header. I will be changing that now and going with the catch container.
Thnaks again

Yes, thanks! I will be getting one as well, but it would be nice to find a clamp that would fit it to the frame (allow it to be clamped to the frame and not use the steel bands). Does anyone have any leads?

I am planning on using the clamp that is used to hold the resivior for the shock on!

I used a piece of rubber tubing from the auto parts store to protect the frame. Then, I used the bracket that came with the Pegasus catch can as a mounting point to attach the assembly with zip ties for now to the frame. I'll probably end up going to hose clamps for a more permanent attachment, but zip ties have worked for the last 6 months.

If I had a mill, I'd fab up something nicer. We have a few really good machinists on this board (based on some of the projects I've seen)... maybe they have some ideas.
