The reason the EARLY BRACKET broke is because the FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL is wrong on the primary chain adjustment which is TOO TIGHT(it should be 3/4 inch loose on the tight spot) ... Rather than correct the adjustment specification they made a stronger shoe bracket ... The way you learn that you are adjusting the primary chain TOO TIGHT is the primary chain will wear a DEEP GROVE in the plastic shoe ... While you have the PRIMARY COVER off you should replace the CLUTCH "GRENADE PLATE" which is called a SPRING PLATE PN 37977-90 ... The "GRENADE PLATE" is replaced with TWO STEEL PLATES PN 37913-90 and ONE FRICTION PLATE PN 37911-90 ... With this PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT you will have the same thing as what the AFTERMARKET CLUTCH suppliers sell as a RACING CLUTCH ...   Hogluvr Posted on Monday, February 13, 2012 - 07:55 pm:        Thanks guys, Well, you ended up answering my next question too. It first destroys the CLUTCH PLATES which in turn destroys the CLUTCH BASKET with FRAGMENTED PARTS getting on the PRIMARY CHAIN and into the TRANSMISSION GEARS ... The "PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT" requires: two STEEL PLATES PN 37913-90 one FRICTION PLATE PN 37911-90 to replace the "GRENADE PLATE" ie: SPRING PLATE PN 37977-90 ...
