I've read here and there about too much voltage being applied. If any of you have a wiring diagram, I'll bet I can come up with a voltage regulator circuit to tackle this problem. ( past electronics experience @ flamethrowers.com and conklinguitars.com, check them both out : )
thanks

Be sure to change your transmission oil/fluid every 5K to keep amount of metal down in the transmission oil/fluid ...

There's a couple threads explaining the process of modding the stock part Jim. I'll look into the KV for you a little later tonight when I've got sit down time and put up the link.

If your current part is bad I have one I bought a few years ago and ended up not needing that I can sell you if your dealer is going to have to order the part.

What is the difference between 74402-95B and 74431-01? That is what they call for on my '01, which I need to replace?

Here's the KV link:

I'm wondering if anyone ever tried a 7805 Voltage regulator ( Mouser, Digikey, and once upon a time - Radio Shack ) Left pin-Volts In, middle pin-gnd, Right pin-5V out.

http://datasheetreference.com/7805-regulator-datas heet.html

Better than a resistor, but I'd probably put on on the supply side just to knock out some noise . . .

Yes, we used them, they work great.

In theory you should also have a couple caps on them, but I doubt it's necessary for this application.

You can also just cannibilize an old cell phone charger, and cut that up and use it.

If you have an aftermarket coil, it will cause the speed sensor to go out. I had this problem about a year ago. I went through four speed sensors before I figured out what was causing it.

The Daytona coil was causing to much EMI on the speed sensor wire. I separated the speed sensor wire from the wiring harness and move it to the other side of the frame and wrapped it in shielding. I haven't had a problem since.

The cell phone charger works and so does wiring it into pin one of the ECM.
