I can't wait to get my Mikuni HSR 42 carb! I have heard alot of great things about it, and it should give me the performance I want. Too bad no one has any videos of any M2s with Mikunis doing drive-by's on youtube because I want to really see what I should be getting, anyone with an M2 and a Mikuni 42? I would be greatly interested in some feedback!

IMHO the 42mikeyrooney is on of the best upgrades you can fit, I did mine about five years ago and havn´t regreted it one bit.....ok I know they are a wee bit expensive but give a much better throttle response right across the rev range, hope you´re as happy with yours when you get it

I've got an HSR on my M2- between that, a full D&D, very open air cleaner and some jetting, the bike was really awakened.

Need to get her back on the road soon- that's been an ongoing project.

The Mikuni HSR 42 is a great carb.

I have one and it is not for sale.

But it is in a box because I have reworked my CV40 and now I prefer it over the Mikuni for daily street use on the M2.

If I ever want to return to the Race Header and Muffler on the M2, I may go back to the Mikuni 42.

However, the real reason I am keeping it is as a backup for the fuel injection on my Race Kitted S3T.

If the fuel injection ever becomes a problem, I can just put on the Mikuni.

For your M2, I recommend you save your money and spend a little time getting your CV40 dialed in.

I have a Forcewinder Air Intake and a D&D Exhaust, and I will not waste another second of my time nor another penny out of my wallet on a carb I wont keep anyways.

If you are looking for a high performance set up you won't be disappointed in the Mikuni.

Kit #4211 is called an Easy Kit and for good reason: It goes on very easily and is very likely to run well out of the box.

Tuning is simple too and they provide a complete Tuning Guide that is easy to understand.

Is the CV 40 the stock carb on M2s?

@Dave 02 1200: I was on Amazon and had that exact kit you just described in my cart haha, I plan on getting the Mikuni when I get my tax return (2 weeks) so I am super excited for a performance boost!

@Blackm2: Thanks for the videos! I always like seeing different videos of bikes and modifications. I really wanted to see a video of someone really getting on it with a setup like mine but with the Mikuni, but I guess I will have to be the one to post that video hahah.

I plan on going the CV44 route (requires a different intake though) as I had a Mikuni but sold it off to eventually swap to a CV44 with 44mm intake which Buell actually made for the Pro Series bikes.

No worries, but you won't notice so much a power difference when you switch, more of a throttle response. Until you do head work, cams, go to a 1250 kit will you see noticeable power change.

This may or may not show you anything. This was actually a test of my new Go Pro, and it wasn't necessarily meant to be good bike footage, but I do have the same setup you describe, along with some Andrews cams_

@Blackm2: I think the 1250 kit will be a good idea for the future. As of now, the Mikuni is all I really need or want.

@Kilroy: I love your bike!!!!! It is so clean and shiny haha, but I did like the video nonetheless it did show more acceleration than what I have with my CV. Thanks for the post!

92firebird,
I have the exact set up (Mikuni HSR 42 , Forcewinder, D&D) you are planning.
You'll love it!!!
I have been thinking of putting the westek race intake back on, that I had on before the forcewinder, when I get a Torque Hammer exhaust in a few weeks.

Might be interesting...

92firebird,

Make sure you take a close look at the jets when you pull it out of the box. Mine had different jets in per the instructions. They were in the box but not installed as stated. You'll probably play with it anyway and swap out as needed, just take a good first look.

Have fun...you'll love how much harder it's going to pull.

Devdawg, I find it really confusing to figure out what jet sizes it should have in the instruction manual. I did have a 155 and 165 size jets in the bag that included all the parts.
