Most of these i see go for 200+ dollars. I know it isnt complete but someone with a little ingenuity could make this work for how cheap it is

That's for an updated X1 stock shifter. Definitely have not seen them go for $200+. Heck, Al sells the whole kit for $148.

AND, that's from the guy who chops and resells Buell parts for profit. Seriously, do not buy from that guy.

I agree. I won't buy from him either. I have one coming from Ironmachine.com or you can get them at americansportbike too, just don't buy used stuff for more than the new kit. Go check out your options before you buy!

Ouch..... looks like someone is upset.
No need for name calling bud. You didn't even list your name but can call everyone little girls? Thats the beauty of the forums, freedom of speech. It is ultimately up to the buyer to make their own decision despite words on this forum. Even though I won't purchase anything from him its not because I think he is "shady" or a bad person. He has a great feedback and that shows he is about customer service.

The problem is not that Yuden wants to make a profit parting out Buells, we'll all need the the parts.

The problem is he is attempting to drive the prices up beyond their real value. Sure the market demand will dictate some of that, but when you can buy complete bikes for only a couple thousand dollars they do not qualify as collector pieces. Mr. Yuden wants to sell the parts like that is just what they are.

If we do not buy at his exorbitant rates then we control the demand and cost rather than letting the seller push prices up beyond reason.

Fair profit for a enthusiast helping the rest of us keep our bikes alive, I'm down with that. Trying to get rich off of an artificially inflated market (similar to the housing bubble that burst when so many were flipping homes), I'm not willing to support that. I have previously purchased parts from him, and would continue to do so if the price was right. I've also made reasonable offers on some of his stuff and been ignored. I've simply decided to take my business elsewhere.

Price new parts from dealers and you may save money on some of that stuff, just do your research. If the price is appropriate then I say go for it.

In case some haven't picked up the info...that davidjay due is supposed to be some sore of hi-tech government opps spy with hi-tech cameras. I once asked him to provide a better pic of a set of wheels, and he wrote that it would be too much trouble - LAZY - but that's fine, I'll deal with someone else. Someone found his web site and pic and put the info on another thread - I think it was in the classified section. Anyhoo, I can tell you that i will never deal with the guy.

"Anyone call him on it? Email the dude and ask how he can ask almost 2x what the part is new?"

Why dont you do it. Whats holding you back buzzer.
I love people that want everyone to else to "email the dude", them won't do themselves...?

Here's the thing, AND I have purchased from this guy in the past. To be CLEAR. I am not taking sides with this dude. Nor am I against him. If you don't like the price. DON'T BUY IT. Yeah, on most things he is way high.

Like others here, I've made offers that were refused. I went elsewhere. If anyone here thinks that "we' control the supply, demand and prices like buzz thinks, I think that's the furthest thing from the truth. The majority of his stuff looks likes it goes overseas. Is that us? if the majority does go overseas, and they can't get it anywhere else. Is he doing them a service or totally ripping them off?

It looks like this thread has been edited my the mods. I see the "Anonymous" post is missing, where we called little girls. Whats up with that?
I love a fair argument!

One: I think if you look at my post from 8:56 you'll see that I in fact DID email him. Also, I think you'll notice that if you go back and read the posts, that I did not suggest that anyone could "control supply, demand and prices" I think that you'll see it was Buggles and NOT ME who was talking about supply and demand.

I do think that when we see individuals on ebay who is asking truly unreasonable prices, there are two things WE CAN do. (1) ask them to justify the price and giving an example of a more reasonable price. (2) warn our friends that this individual might be someone you want to deal with carefully. Now that is exactly what's going on here.

General note: read the whole thread and when you attribute statements to people, be sure that they actually made them.

Steve, you also make a valid point, however if overseas buyers need the parts and he is pricing according to that market (and is willing to deal with international shipping paperwork) then his business will do just fine, but we will still do better to buy at our market prices or from a local source.

If that is his real intent, instead of just pure profit he might reduce his domestic pricing and charge a handling fee or surcharge to international buyers to protect his profits and price match on the world market.

Retailers are in business to make money, but the market is what controls the demand, and will absolutely affect price. If everyone stopped buying diamonds they wouldn't be worth a dime.

I'm not talking about a total boycott - unless the seller wants to be a total douche - I'm saying that if a price is unrealistically priced you should not buy it. I've found this seller is out of my price range, and my version of reality, more often than not lately.

Relax buzz. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. All is good.

Lets one thing straight though... On ebay, It's all about the money in my opinion.
From what I know (which isn't very much) Ebay rapes the seller, the seller rapes us. There was thread recently about someone wanting to start a "Look what I found on ebay" section or something to that effect. I say NAY! Bad idea. That will only get more people from here on the Badweb bidding against me and driving up the price on a part I need. Who here doesn't want to buy something as cheap as they can? No one. THAT'S WHO!

These another thread called "tuber killers".
People are getting their panties up tight about people chopping up bikes. Do I like it? No. Can I do anything about it? Not really.
But, I'll tell you what. If a "Tuber Killer" was parting out a good bike, and selling parts I needed or just wanted to hoard (like some of us do) I'd be all over a set of Pm's for $200, Pegasus seat, Sharks tooth sprocket, or anything on the cheap... And so would the rest of YOU!
So please, lets be honest.

I simply stated that he sells Buell parts for profit...I've seen him buy things off of people here, on CL, etc and sell for way more than what he paid. Like I said, buyer beware in this capitalistic market.

And yes, three years ago before I knew what this guy does I bought off of him. Great customer service, but never bought again once I realized what his goal was...Just like he is free to make a purchase, I'm free to express my opinion and inform others as to what I've learned.

As promised, my original email to Mr Uden was:

"Dear davidjayuden,

"Can you explain your rationale for charging almost twice as much for this part as it would cost new and unused?

"http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/17502.html"

His response:

"Dear Mark,

"I haven't looked at American Sport Bike shifters so I can't comment on their stuff, OEM, imported, etc. but generally their stuff is very good. I do not alter my prices every time some shop clears off their shelves and dumps some remaining stock on the market. Good examples are rear shocks and front brake rotors. One day they are $120 for NOS, a week later they are $400. My suggestion is that you buy the bargains as they present themselves. I bought up a bunch of the NOS flat shifters that were just released, but will not change prices on what I have listed.

"-davidjayuden"

Honestly, I'm surprised he responded at all, so I'm not really surprised that his response essentially ditches my question which was "what is [his] rationale."

So, as the young folk say, whatever. And of course, there is little anyone can actually do except Caveat emptor.

PS: Interesting note about the BadWeb forum, if you type A S B (without the spaces) BadWeb expands the text to American Sport Bike and adds a link to their site. hehe cool.

Ive never bought from the guy... But I've asked him more than a buttload of questions on stuff like his swing arms and just random things he posts. He has always been waaaay more than helpful and curteous. He had like 5 different swing arms at one point, and I asked him to weigh out each one, So I could determine the make and manufacture of each.

He had weights for me the next morning. So yea, he may be parts scalping, but he's a nice guy about it.

Point at hand. You both win. He's a dick because he's in business, and he's a nice guy because.... well... he likes staying in business.

Deal with it.

I have bought stuff from him in the past and although it might seem expensive he does take offers plus as someone previously pointed out he will ship abroad. For us tuber owners in the UK he can often be the only option. Most US ebayers won't post abroad.
I have to say he has been an okay seller for me.

I don't know if our recent threads have helped, or if his pricing is just better on some items.

Here's a thread with a link to a reasonably priced upgrade muffler hanger and regulator plate:

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/666807.html?1328026413

S1owner, I believe the S1 would use the M2/S3 kit since the peg placement is the same as the s1's, and you don't have the chin fairing standard. The X1 kit has a different length shifter for the different peg placement, and a two piece mounting block to fit on either side of the chin fairing. Sorry I don't have that part number.
