so i bought my x1 with a Hypercharger installed and am looking to put something else on it. you guys have any preference towards the elbow- style (forcewinder) or the round- style? | ||

got the carbon elbow style with big air filter on my M2. Looks good, IMHO, and works good. easy to clean and maintain. But then i also love the carbon style ham can, find what you like, and as fahren said re- route and maybe adjust your air to fuel mixture for good performance. | ||

Your best bet is a small velocity stack that will be fitted to a free flowing intake. I find most motorcycle applications incredibly restrictive (and really the options are limited) I run a flame arrestor (air filter) from my race jetski. These are about the top of the line thing you can run. There was a huge improvement when I switched over to running mine with a velocity stack.  | ||

I have a Forcewinder on my M2 and I like the extra leg room it provides (I am 6'7" so that is important to me) My S3 has a race kit carbon fiber ham can and that is really okay because it doesn't stick out too much and it looks so good I can live with it. | ||

yeah probably what bugs me most about the hypercharger is its so big it rubs my knee when i ride.. that velocity stack looks pretty sick. Appearance-wise I have always loved the old crooked ham can. I tried sitting on someone else's bike that had that style installed. Whacked my knee right away. I am 6'3" so my only choice was the forcewinder. My only gripes with the forcewinder was the installation instructions were pretty bad: It said to REMOVE the intake support bracket. You know... the one thing that SUPPORTS the intake? ha ha ha. Oh and the breather seems to have been deliberately designed to distill the vapors out and dribble them upon your right shoe. I run my breather to a hose leading to the street now. | ||

I just bought a forcewinder type intake from harleybigboreintakes.com, but it came without instructions. Anyone ever put one of these on? Also, did you have to re-jet? | ||

Depending on your location and altitude, you should most likely be between 185 and 190 main jet, and 45 pilot. What are your other mods? | ||

Its an XB pulley and bracket. An XB runs the bracket facing rearward, and the belt over the pully, since I was running the belt through the wishbone bracket, I threw it in a mill and deepened the channel at about a 35* angle. Then I ran two holes vertical for mounting bolts, with the heads counter sunk about 1/2". As for the Fork legs themselves, I forget the measurement, but I cut them, and welded in more, extending them something like .55" Drilled and tapped vertically into the mounting block.  | ||

According to the manual it has a 195 main and 42 pilot. I also noted that the carb drain hose plugs into the stock airbox, but I see no way to do it with this kit. Should that matter? Here's a pic from their website of what the kit looks like on a Harley.  | ||

You can mod the factory snorkel like "I" Did "the econowinder"  If you read the small caption I cut the tube at the red line so i didn't lose to much length because these engines from the factory are tuned for the length of the snorkel. I put the I.A.T sensor where the blue circle is. Here is the round canister intake.   I ended up getting a used forcewinder elbow for a carb model and i just needed a different gasket to cover the teardrop shaped air jet recess in the intake mating surface.  | ||

I may still have it in a box. If not my brother has it. I will have to look into it. I think i even have a carbon fiber disk cover for it from American Sport Bike. I found a pic of the econowinder installed on my bike  |
