Happy New Year everybody. Does anyone know how many black '98 S1Ws were produced? I feel the only thing lacking in Court & Dave's excellent book is this type of info.

Either the bike in the photo is not an S1W, or it has the wrong tank on it.

Good spotting, Ratbuell! The bike is mine & is indeed a 98 S1W. I fitted the smaller '97 tank on it which in my opinion makes them look way better. I have read somewhere Buell made approx 70 all black S1Ws but I'd like someone with definite knowledge to confirm / deny this please.

OK, after much searching the archives I have arrived at 378 all black ones, 23 of which had PM wheels. Thanks to everyone who chimed in.

If the bike pictured is a domestic model, then it is one of 49 built with single seat, black body, black frame, black wheels.

Please look at the sticker and let me know what market it was built for. It may be significantly more rare.

A VIN Number is always appreciated.

Domestic. It was sold new through Golden Gate HD Ca & I bought it from the first owner. How much of the VIN do you need? I really don't want to publish the entire VIN

Cali bike may be more rare than 49 state...I would think the sequence number (last six digits) would ID the bike, yes?

Then 230084 is enough info?

LOL...
PM me the VIN. I need all 17 digits. It will stay private. It goes into my database, and that's it.

The last 6 is ONLY the build number. It's possible to have S3, X1, and S1 all with same last 6...

and yes, Cali build numbers are exclusive as it is a different model.

Yup, I know the sequence restarts with each model year (or every 1M bikes). Typically, though, since you know the bike is a '98...there should be only one with that number?
