Replaced carburator, bike has been sitting a while 8 months or so. Running good but building up pressure in oil bag. Has blown the oil cap off twice and puked oil all over it's self. did have an aftermarket oil filter on it the larger fl-10 i think. drained all the oil and removed the filter. What else should be looked at ?? | ||

Check valve. Oil may have "sumped" into the crankcase while it sat, filling what should have been a dry engine with oil (the pool of oil in these engines is the tank, not the bottom of the crankcase). If you "topped off" the tank because it looked low...it now has twice the oil it should have. | ||

Where is check valve? How do I get the oil out of bottom of crank case ? | ||

It should be behind the oil filter adapter. It is just a spring loaded ball that keeps the oil in the oil bag and keeps the oil from draining back into the crankcase. Also see the thread here on badweb about threaded oil cap. | ||

The oil pump removes the sump oil. Your part in the process is to ensure that the oil bag has room for it. The check valve function is almost always restored with an oil change or two. Dirt makes it stick, not time. | ||

Thank you all very much. Will be looking into it tomorrow, the bike is oil free now will also be going back to a OEM oil filter. | ||

I changed out my check ball valve and the new spring is stiffer than the stock one and when my bike idles the oil light comes on and flickers. A quick blip of the throttle corrects the problem. I even went as far as to change out the oil pressure sensor and it's the same. So if it happens to you don't be alarmed. | ||

Rat, U nailed it. Assembley was loose after taken off oil filter. Played heck getting the ball and spring out ( N rough shape ). Thanks am looking for part # or source for new ball check valve, rear brake mstr. cly., | ||
