Going over my 2000 S3 -- I looked at the FI cable port and it seemed to look different -- Am I missing the guts-- a cover or has it just been so long I forgot what it looked like?

There's an orange pin retainer, too, which seems to have fallen out.

Find a dealer in electronics who carries Deutsch connectors. It must be a common part.
