this is as it was.
Overall in pretty good condition,but thought it was time to improve/renew and give it a cosmetic upgrade.

idea is to repaint / polish engine.
polish new type of swing arm.
polish the rims and paint center of rims.
polish engine brackets.
touch up the frame and do something about the rust.
carbon X1 or S1 windscreen and use round headlight again.
make a carbon dashboard for the digital speedo.
Make engine modifications where needed.
And go for some new shiny rizoma parts to replace plastic parts.

color scheme will be black and red, engine black wrinkle

If anybody has tips i'm open for ideas.

it will probably be a long term project since i've started a new job and my 17 month old son is taking much of all my free time. but it's just a hobby !!
And a good way to spread out the costs.

I'm still looking for some pictures of nice M2 engines, i'm still not sure to polish or paint the primary covers.

Sounds like a well thought out plan. Polished swingarms look very nice and the colors will great with your current paint job.

I suggest maybe cut your cam cover, and get a nice cover or clean up your drive pulley. Some of the pulley guard/swingarm braces do look better with the stock cam cover though.

I like the wrinkle black paint, but will probably spray a semi-gloss over the texture paint in the future. It will make it a bit easier to clean up after riding in foul weather.

Considering the lines of your bike, with the tail you've got I think the S1 screen would suit it a bit better.

I liked the X1 wind screen, even though it only provides a little wind protection, it is more than the S1 could. Since it was my primary vehicle for a time it was a consideration for me.

looks like a s1 or the rrc s1 tail that bolts onto the m2 frame.

it's the tail from rrc.
but it's painted to match the colors of the rest of the bike.

been a while since i posted something up here.
things done so fare:
- teared it apart.
- frame in such a state that i'll have it blasted and powdercoated.
- polished the new swing arm.
- a lot of cleaning.
- start polishing the headers.
- cut down the cam-cover.

A lot of time spend on cleaning and polishing. this is more a winter job!!

Be very, very, careful. In the late 90s I decided to take the Norton apart to do a valve job and rewire it. Then I decided to have some Akront rims laced up. Then ... by the time I was done I had spent well in excess of 12K on it. No s**t. I have more money in that bike than I do in my Road King. It looked really sharp when I was done but, I ride it, not so much any more. Talk about being upside down on something! No matter, I will never sell it.

i'm a married man with a 1.5 yr old son, think you can do the math where most of the money goes to.

however i did a '71 electra glide which also costs me more then was good for me.

we'll see what this brings. so far not too much money spend, only lots of work in cleaning / polishing.
so far so good!

That's going to look great. I love the fairly stock looking graphics on the tank, but with the dark subtle colors and shading.

to be honest it's not shading, no flasher on the camera
its a metallic red striping same for the Buell letters, the rest is grey.
going for red/black and grey/carbon colors on the entiry bike! and some polishing off course.

Great colors, I did mine with more gray, less black but the same colors in mind.

Those end-caps are going to look great on the stainless lines!

Robbert,another neat trick since you have your rocker box (valve covers) apart,is painting the spacer and leaving the top and bottom polished.

i've got some high gloss black spray paint, but i'm not sure if that's for high temp.
