Took me 4 hrs to tear down most of the S1 all I have left together is frame, motor, fork, and swing arm/ everthing else is off baged and tagged. Started fiberglassing the rear fairing. The one thing I do not get is there wire routing there are some areas which were a tangled mess but could have very easily been routed better. If anyone has done a full tear down and rebuild and has some tips or tricks let me know | ||

I tore down and rebuilt an X1 and it sounds like you're on the right track by tagging everything. Take as many pictures as you can also, they'll help in the rebuild. Also, if you have hoses just 'hanging out' put some blue painters tape on them and label what they go to, it'll help out also. The X1's plugs are pretty much fail safe meaning you can't plug something in somewhere where it isn't supposed to go but in the case of multiple like plugs use blue tape on both sides and number them so a 1 goes to 1 and 2 to 2 and so on. I also use cardboard boxes and draw a diagram (poorly) of the part and poke holes in it to keep and store pushrods and bolts so the same bolt goes back in the same hole. Good luck. | ||

Yes taking lots of pics making notes and keeping a running list of new parts needed. I have a guy to do powder coating and one for paint also. Does anyone have any tips on motors I will bring igt to someone but will for sure freshen it up want to make it better but the m/ain thing is reliability | ||

Agree with Kyrocket, take lots of pictures and use tape for numbering wires. have my M2 lying in parts in the garage and will start rebuilding it this winter. Calculate some extra time as planned, don't know if your also looking for new parts and stuff. but i would say renew all bearings and other stuff thats hard to reach will its apart. i'll make some new pictures and post them in my rebuild in the M2 section when i have the time. | ||

Any one know of a good wheel paint .Sending the header to Jet Hot to get ceramic coated , and would like to do something with the wheels .And a decent set of bar end mirrors too . Now I gotta go buy a camera ! | ||

Powder coat! I couldn't tell you where to get it in your area, but suggest powder coating, more durable! Josh | ||

Yep powder coat is the way to go. I will replace all bearings, isolators, bushings etc I am also putting on a 2000 cyclone swing arm! | ||

i torn down my X1 last year....  powdercoated everything i could put in my oven. my frame after it was cooled-  I did all the isolator updates, swing arm bearings, wheels bearings, everything new while i was putting it back together. |
