Hey guys back again lol , my bike wont seem to hold the charge on the battery since it rained.. its basically a new battery less than 4 months old. it starts up good after i had it on the trickle charger but after i ride or turn off the bike it wont do nothing, the lights and everything else turns on good just wont turn over. So today i charged it up full, filled the tank up and went on a ride thinking maybe if i rode it awhile it will charge up whatever needs to be charged. I rode about 100 miles (didnt want to run out of gas) came home, turned off the bike went inside and waited a min. went back outside to try to start the bike and nothing just the lights and stuff come on. i checked the battery connections and they are nice and tight, every connection is tight.. i dont understand it.. would it be a voltage regulator? anyways thanks for the help! thanks.

yeah its wierd, while im riding the blinkers and lights and all still work, but cant shut it off once i have it on, so i been having to charge it, then put gas in it with a gas can then go ride, but cant turn the bike off lol so when i stop to smoke a cig, i keep the bike idling, its kinda ghetto : ( im about my witts end with this bike lol. however its got 7,300 miles on the clock now :P

like i said my bike did the same thing and i put some dielectric grease on the connection and it started fine...... try wiggling the relays when hitting the start button and see what happens. i bet that might be the problem.. if not i am sure buellistic will have an answer.

There is two things that will click first the relay which is up near the front of the seat but it is a soft click if you hear a loud click it is the selonoid. I am pretty sure it's in your wiring. Some corrosion or something loose. Try all the connections from battery to starter to ignition clean all and put dielectric grease on them it's cheap and a good start to figuring your issue out!!

"...since it rained."
The dielectric grease on the connectors will keep water out of them, as well as helping the connection be strong in general.

Check your running voltage at the battery.

Get a manual.

Perform the charging system checks. They will tell you if your stator is working; if your voltage regulator is working; or if your wiring is wonky.

There's only about six wires on an S1...it's not difficult to troubleshoot : ) I did an LED conversion on my S1W's taillight last night, popped a fuse (mental reminder: turn key OFF before doing wiring work!), and was reminded there are only FOUR fuses on one of these things.

Basic.

There's more wiring under the SEAT of my 1125 than there is on the WHOLE S1W!

I had similar problems on my '99 S3 (converted to M2 module and carb) and they all went away when I replaced the ignition switch and starter relay.
