I've been trying to make sense of this but have been unable to see what the purpose of the two holes on the stock intake tube of my X1. I think they might be for some sort of flow control but can't for the life if me see why they would put them down current from the breather tube, by the way, anyone got any ideas for a spooge collector rather than letting the breather junk get into the intake? Got a friend with an XB that made his own but am wondering if there is a good location. Any help would be awesome.

You talking about where the injector go, or the air cleaner?

The holes are there to make more low-end power for your bike without hurting top-end performance. Those holes let the inrushing air to build and release pressure inside the larger chamber (around the snorkle).

That breadbox needs to still be sealed to the outside world or it will ingest dirt and the bike won't make any more power.

Taking off that air filter almost guarantees a loss in low-end and midrange power. I'm putting the stocker back on my S1.

It's a helmholtz resonator. Reduces intake noise. EPA measures all noise, not just the exhaust.
