I swapped out for an HSR42 and followed all instructions concerning the choke cable. It has the right plunger, nut, and spring for the HD choke cable. It simply will not stay out when pulled. Is there a special trick to problem I haven't addressed? Thanks for any help. |

It's loose enough that it sometimes falls out of the bracket. Yeah, I was cussing an HD engineer when I got everything buttoned up and overtightened the cable but on the first cable. You have to strip everything back off to get to the back of the carb. Needles to say, I can field strip the carb off a Buell in record time now. |

I loop a zip-tie around the cable and bracket to keep everything together. How does it run? rt |

Runs great! I couldn't be happier with the performance. I believe the slow speed fueling is MUCH better and it feels like it has more power. I still don't have as much top end as I'd like. I think I'm going to have to at least do some cam work to make that happen. Then again, I'm a giant galoot and it's hard to push me through the air much beyond 100mph. I love and don't love the shorter throw on the throttle. It's great to get from zero to full throttle in a hurry but it does make throttle response twitchy when you are just cruising around. I think it's dialed in from a jetting standpoint. Couldn't be happier. |

I'm glad you're happy with it. I was going to use it on S1 #2, but I sold the bike before I got around to switching the carbs. rt |

Mikuni has a cable available. It has a positive detent for the on position. There are no intermediate positions, only on and off, but you'll never have to mess with it after setting the cable freeplay initially. My 42mm made my bike a bit too responsive on the bottom. It would slide or wheelie all over the place from low speeds, sometimes whether I wanted to or not. It now has a 45mm, but it'll bog badly if I open it up too fast. I may try a Keihin 44, but am on the fence. I really hate the rubber band throttle feeling of a CV. |
