Hey everyone, new to this forum so I will introduce myself. I have a 2000 Buell X1 and a 2006 Buell XB12X. I love them both and each has their purpose, although I have to say the lightning has the better looks. If anyone has good advice to pass on it would be greatly appreciated. Josh |

Don't go hatin' on Big Bird, now...the Uly is an awesome bike! Like I said in the BBD forum - make sure not to ignore the tuber. You will learn more about the tuber now that you have the XB, than you ever did when it was the only one in the garage. Listen to them both. They will speak to you. |

Big bird is an awesome bike and I love it, the X1 just has a different look, I'll have to post pics of them both together so you can see what I mean. Josh |

Welcome.. I love my x1.. I don't have an Uly but I like my bike better than my friends Uly Just my opinion but Id say the opposite if I had an Uly and not an x1. :P |

Uly Vs X1? I'll let you know in about 2 weeks. I have an X1 & just arranged to buy a Uly. (Neither of them are a match for my Blast!) Chris C |

Welcome! I also have an XB and a tuber, though they are neither Uly nor Lightning. After riding my XB exclusively for a year I really began missing my Cyclone. Been riding the Cyclone now, exclusively for a few months and now miss the XB (a bit, that feeling will grow if I don't get back on it soon). They are very different creatures and as Rat said, they speak to you, for me each touches a different part of my soul. |

I hear ya, it seems to me that the X1 feels a bit quicker and more connected to the ground, the Uly shifts smoother, rides smoother, and accelerates smoother, I have to ride the X1 every now and then to get the taste of power back. Josh |

my 2cents on advice with the X1, iv got a 2000 X1, is to frequently check the exhaust system for anythng getting loose and check the fwd engine mount VERY frequently for cracks or broken mount bolts. Great choice on bikes. thats gotta be the best of both worlds. |

Psykick- good advice! When I bought the bike it needed some work, the primary was leaking BAD out of the two bolt holes that hold the chin fairing onto the primary. Later I discovered the flaws with the forward mounting on the muffler. I can't locate any more of the rubber mounts that go into the mount so I have had to make do with making them from other means. Later the actual muffler (Vance & Hines) cracked all the way around the forward mount, I spent many hours grinding and welding to beef up the front mount on the muffler. Later on the rear mount cracked and rather than weld it, I adopted the method of mounting from the XB series an made my own. Since the fixes, I have put about 5000 miles on the bike with no problem. I would still like to find those rubber mounts though. There is a service bulletin to convert it to a dogbone mount, but it seems a little expensive. Josh |
