I put my carb and intake in my parts washer for a couple days. promblem is I think the metal in the carb and intake had a reaction with my cleaner ( I use a bio grade degreaser). It seems like it almost ate away some of the material that the carb and intake are made out of ( cast ? ). So I have had to polish the inside of both the carb and intake. Will this cause any promblems? thoughts? |

I thought the thread title referred to VR1000 parts... I wouldn't worry about polishing the insides of either. The roughness will actually help in fuel atomization and dispersion due to turbulence. However, if the cleaner is as aggressive as you say, it would be helpful to know the brand and active ingredients involved so the rest of us avoid it! Chauly |

I would be more worried about corrosion and pitting in the little air passages. |

DO NOT "POLISH"(only radius turns) THE INTAKE OF A CARBURETOR ENGINE, but you can mirror finish the exhaust port track ... On a fuel injection engine you do both ... |
