As mentioned before, riding cross country right now from NYC > SF (currently in LA for a day).

02 X1, freshly tuned... been running great for most part. However, I've noticed weirdness when shifting, esp from 1st to 2nd.

1) Low rpm shift: for the most part, things work well from 1k > 3.5k

2) Mid rpm shift: when I get into 4-5k range, it's usually OK, but sometimes I hit a false neutral and then have to push it up to 3rd or even 4th to get it to catch.

3) Higher rpm shift: when I try to get on it, above 5k, I get this weird thing where I'll rev high, shift into 2nd, get a momentary lag w/ no power, and then I feel it catch and get a burst of power.

I have adjusted (and/or had a professional adjust) the primary chain tension twice, and still see this happen.

Any idea on what could be going on?

I would look at the detent plate, some times the pins work there way out. Next i would check the adjustment of the shifter paw.

Not much further to SF, and I'm going to need to ship the bike back to NYC due to time constraints, so I'm going to wait till I'm back to address this stuff (and remove the grenade plate). Thanks for sending the tutorials!

Are you over filling your oil tank ???

If so, the oil will find its way out of the engine until it reaches its happy oil level ...

Engine pressure will force it by the crank shaft oil seal(then out the transmission breather hose), out the OEM head breathers, and out the base gaskets !!!

CHECK THE OIL ON THE SIDE STAND ON LEVEL GROUND WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING AT OPERATING TEMPERATURE ...

WHERE THE OIL IS AT ON THE DIP STICK WHEN YOU FIRST TAKE THE DIP STICK OUT WILL BE THE OIL LEVEL ...

IF YOU PUT THE DIP STICK BACK N TO RECHECK, IT WILL READ LOWER ON THE DIP STICK SO THE FIRST CHECK IS ALL YOU GET ...

YOU MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF ONE INCH OF AIR SPACE IN YOUR OIL TANK ...

Let us know what the air space is ???
