97 M2 was carb farting when cold and once in a while when going down the road.
Installed new manifold seals and not a single fart!
At the suggestion of a board member I did lubricate the seals with sil-glyde.
Next time I pull the manifold I'm going to throw the allen bolts in the trash and replace then with 12 point bolts.
For anyone who didn't know it, sil-glyde is available at auto-zone for $1.25. It's what they sell as brake lubricant in small packages by the cash register.

Up-dated to hex head bolts years ago so that "i" could safety wire them ...

The allen bolts are also a PITA to get tight even with the magical intake bolt tool.


Hex head are better for no other reason than you can actually get a wrench on them.
