In the process of trying to find out if I had a dead tach, I attempted to start the bike today. She's been running "poorly" the last two days, but she would start and idle. Today, she cranked and backfired (not a small one, but loud). Plugs are toast, I checked coil and wires and resistance looks ok. I thought maybe my coil was an issue with the tach. Trying to get the intake manifold off to check seals. I have them on order along with a carb kit. Not sure if the boom was carb related or something more serious...thoughts? |

In retrospect, I think my ignition module failed...time to drill out the rivets and see what lurks inside the nose cone. |

Look for chaffed wiring down there. |

well, it looks like I let the smoke out...maybe this is part of the reason for the funny tach
