I figured us old time tuber bikers are home with the family on a Saturday evening and hoping you are cruising BadWeb.

I'm removing the forward bracket for the stock Showa shock. Replacing the forward bracket with the shorter one from American Sport Bike for the 14.7" Penske shock.

Lower bolt head on the bracket doesn't have sufficient clearance next to oil line that goes to the oil filter, so I can't remove the bolt without removing the oil line.

If I remove the hose to the oil pump from the oil filter, will all the engine oil drain out?

Thanks for the help.

P.S. for those in the know, which orientation did you choose for your Penske shock fitting that goes to the can? And where did you mount the can? The hose is a "mile" long, so I want it to look professional when I'm done!

If you ran it recently it may have less, but it's a low point so you will have some oil settled in the line, but your engine oil is held in the plastic reservoir under the seat.

I didn't need to move any lines when I changed my front bracket, can you reach it with an extension?

Didn't have to remove oil line....did have to shove it around alittle. Reservoir located on left side on horizontal tube.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I didn't know how much oil I'd loose. Only 1,300 on current change.

Yeah the line is fairly tight around the top of the bolt. I think I'll just remove the oil line and replace what oil I've
lost.

I'm looking to dry fit it tomorrow. Real excited about the new ride. This winter the forks will be done.

Ultimate corner carver, I hope, when done.

I had the same experience as Cyclonecharlie — didn't need to remove anything other than the exhaust and old shock. Snaked the reservoir line up around the exhaust bracket and mounted it on the horizontal down tube on the front left of the bike.

Didn't remove exhaust, just bracket and routed behind voltage reg.and mounted reservoir farther back on frame.

I think I needed to remove exhaust to get the jack under the engine.

UPDATE:

Got the shock on. Mounted the reservoir (can) right under the horn on the horizontal tube. Sure wish Penske made a more flexible hose!

Trying to make it to Quaker Steak bike night this Wednesday.
