Does anyone know if this shock will work for my application 96 s1 with 2000 m2 swingarm.

It should work, but I have always been leary of that shock, just because know one knows what it actually is. What if you need to rebuild it later? It looks like a quality shock though.

If the price is right it is worth the risk with the stallings and such someone somewhere has to know what it is

I wouldn't buy it. It needs the reservoir attached and charged/filled with oil, who knows what brand it is..no one seems to.

Ok anyone know what shock and what size I have a 96 s1 and a 2000 m2 swing arm

Swingarm doesn't matter. It's the bracket that's on your bike that does. We'd need a pic of what you have to tell you what you have, or you could measure the eye to eye length and that'll answer your question.

If your shock mount is the LH one in the pic, you need the 16.5" shock. RH mount is for the 14.7" shock

Ok so I will need the 16.5 inch. I was told that my original shock (chrome enclosed kind) would not work for this swingarm shock anyone know why

You were misinformed... But, did you also get the mounting block for that swingarm? IIRC, the steel swingarm mounting block doesn't fit the aluminum swingarm...
