Picked up a set of Conti-Motions for dirt cheap, liked them on my z1000.

Anyway, did some looking around on here for the rear axle torque specs. Is 65-70 ft/lbs the right number?

The other question I have is belt tension. Currently it's set to factory specs, but I've noticed a couple of posts about running it "loose". How loose is loose? What kind of deflection should I be shooting for? Currently it's at 1/2inch@10 lbs what is everyone else doing to prolong belt life and bearing output shafts?

thanks

james

Scary loose if you want the tranny to stay healthy.

Run the drive belt about 2" with out rider.

Sit on it and make sure you have about 1.25-1.5 inches still.

Two-up riding even more without riders on it when adjusting, to make sure your belt isn't running tight.

Are those the Contis that keep showing up on Ebay for 179 for a set?

Curious how you like them.

Yes, they're conti-motions, I liked them quite a lot on my z1000. Plenty of grip and they're priced right. Going to be interesting to see how they hold up with this much torque working them hard.
