Didn't they make the late Cyclone tanks with the color molded in? My molten orange S1 manta tank has herpes sores galore.

Steve,
I think cyclones and S3's were always painted. Find paint a matched M2 tank though and it will probably last longer. Plus the decals didn't breath at all, causing the start of the separation of the paint from the nylon tank material. The adhesive "Buell" stickers on the later models helped with that too.

Pretty sure Surlyn only came on later model X1's and P3's since they have tank covers.

Mr Buggles is correct, further these parts showed up in 2001 on the X1. I don't know about the Blast.

I have a 2001 with a 2000 tank cover on it. I've field "tested" both and I can say the 01 cover is the same color through and through, the 00 cover is painted.

Not what I was hoping but thanks for the info.
There's a plastic fuel tank liner (similar to Kreem) that I thik I'll try in addition to the later Buell painting techniques.

Well good luck to you then brother, just make sure you allow a lot of cure time on the tank prior to putting fuel in.

Mine's been fine since August 2006, but I let it sit for almost a month while I worked on other things, like suspension and isolators and stuff.
