Shifter, ramp, adjusting nut and derby cover all off all off. It's not hooked on the chain. It's not loose and won't come free. It's like you still have a screw run down tight on either end.The s.o.b. is stuck! |

If all bolts are out, it could be that the gasket is fused to the edges. I had to stick a screwdriver and tap it a few times before it budged. The gasket was stuck, half on the cover and the other on the other side |

If all screws, ramps and shift lever is off then id could be the dowels. There are two locator dowels on the ends of the case. they are used to hold the gasket and align the case. These dowels are made of steel. Through galvanic corrosion the two parts are stuck as it were. either spray liquid wrench into these hole, your manual will tell you which (hard to describe in text, but if you primary was a clock the holes are 3 and 9 o'clock) Or lightly tap with a rubber dead blow... |

"are you sure that ALL the bolts our out???" After looking at all the empty screw holes for the 10th or 11th time,I would say yes, all the bolts are out. I just had it off two days ago,I doubt it's galvanic corrosion. |

Jramsey said "Derby cover off? along with the well nut and release ramp." Make sure you've done this. There's no other reason it wouln't come off unless you RTV'd the thing on there. |

In that case, you really then need to "...get a B.F.H." BTW, are you sure you got ALL the screws out?! |

Try few clouts with a rubber mallet from a few different directions.I don't use a gasket any more because I got sick of buying gaskets.I use Loctite 518,It has been working like this for 3 years now.I pull the cover when I change oil and check things out while I'm in there. Why are you pulling the cover? |
