Five years ago today, I lost one of my best childhood friends to a motorcycle accident on the Oregon coast. He was riding his '00 X1, nuclear blue/molten orange. He was 22. He lost control on a corner, and that's all we know. I remember the first time I saw his bike like it was yesterday, and it was that moment that made me want one. After he passed away, I decided that I would wait at least five years to get one... and now that we're here, I think I'll paint my plastics orange in memory of him. He is missed.

So easy to loose it in a corner.

Just a little too much front brake can kill. And moisture. And leaves. And a little bit of rocks. Or a tar strip going in, apex, going out.

We've got to trust our tires more instead of engine braking, brakes, fear.

Sorry for your loss.

Sorry for your loss Smoker. I too lost a friend to a motorcycle accident around the same time. We will always have our memories. My memory of him helps to make me a safer, more aware rider.

We are not invincible.

Again I am sorry for your loss.
