I noticed the bike sagged way DOWN when we both go on it. im 200 and my lady is about 130. I know I need more preload, and probably more compression damping. Thing is my manual only shows the rear shock with the open spring and mine is the covered one. NONE of the adjustment nobs or screws match with whats in the book, its like im working on a whole different bike. someone mentioned 9 turn in and 9 turns out, my rear shock compression nob only does 3 full turns TOTAL. Anybody have a link to a break down of the shock I have? |

There were a couple generations of "recall shocks". Post a pic if you can. I'll dig thru some of my old tech bulletins and see what I can come up with. My tubers with recall shocks have labels on the remote reservoir adjuster screw. I forget if its comp or reb...but I know it's on there. I can check, in case yours is missing the sticker. |

You are very close to the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. If you plan to do a lot of 2up riding you will need to get a penske or works shock with a spring for the weight you are hauling around. |

can I use any of the newer mono shocks or do the s1's take a specific fit? I see alot on ebay from all the newer buells. |

2 different lengths either will work if you have the correct front mount. BTW eye of the fork on the swing arm where the shock rod end mounts to looks to be worn out. AIN't Right and very dangerous to ride like that cause it WILL fail shortly. |

Nah, that part looks good. BUT while I was down there I saw something else. Its a leaker. So looks like Im getting a new shock either way. so you say I need a front mount, will that make an xb12 shock work? or do I need to stick to the tuber era shocks? |

Tubers use pull shocks,XB's use the more conventional push type. Two shock lengths 14.7&16.5 hence the two different front mounts, either one will work with its proper mount. |
